The new CPR standards have made significant impact on patient survival. With the emphasis on early defibrillation while continuing compressions without any interruptions, is the core component to successful resuscitation. Technology has provided evidence based data that these cardiac arrest victims have a lower incidence of neurological deficits if the hypothermia protocol is implemented as soon as possible. Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification has been rapidly progrssing over the past 25 years per the American Heart Association. There are many medical doctors and registered nurses who utilize the teachings and training that is taught in the ACLS course. As an EMT, we do not expect to see further training or education as we approach the new era of emergency medicine.
